NextGen Achieve Commercial Milestone With the Launch of Gene Synthesis Services

NextGen Sciences, the Cambridge, UK based “Gene to Protein” company today announced they had achieved one of the milestones in the agreement with Gene Oracle with the launch of a new service for Gene Synthesis. This launch represents a further addition to the suite of services it already offers through its ContractExpressTM fee for service business using the proprietary technology developed by Gene Oracle. The GeneIOSTM technology provides significant performance and time saving benefits when compared with competing technologies. Customers will also have the option to combine Gene Synthesis with other complementary services provided under the ContractExpress offering, such as cloning and expression through to protein identification, characterization and manufacture.

NextGen Sciences believe the new combined ContractExpress Gene Synthesis module offers customers a very cost effective service, including full design consultation and guaranteed sequence verification, that can deliver purified samples to the customer within 10 working days from agreeing a contract.

Commenting on the launch of the service, CEO Dr James Heffernan said: ”From the date of the announcement of the agreement with Gene Oracle it has taken us less than 2 months to incorporate the Gene Oracle algorithms into the Company’s existing infrastructure. This has allowed us to expand the scope of our fee for service business on schedule and represents a significant milestone achieved by NextGen in the expansion of the ContractExpressTM fee for service business. The way we have identified, negotiated access to and incorporated best of breed technologies into our own suite of products is indicative of the way NextGen is positioning itself to be at the heart of supporting the drug discovery industry.”

This product launch represents a significant milestone in the agreement with Gene Oracle announced in August 2006, which entitled NextGen to in-licence Gene Oracle’s proprietary gene synthesis technology, and also to a time limited exclusive option to acquire Gene Oracle at a later date
