NextGen Sciences receives the Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award for 2005

NextGen Sciences Ltd (Cambridgeshire, UK and Illinois, USA) has been selected by Frost & Sullivan to receive the 2005 Technology Leadership Award. In particular, the award recognises NextGen Sciences’ contribution to the protein research industry with the development of the a2DEoptimizer™.

“NextGen Sciences has been chosen to receive this award due to the company’s pioneering development and commercialisation of the a2DEoptimizer. The technology is a major improvement in electrophoresis, which is likely to simplify the protein purification process and thereby impact the proteomics field significantly. This award recognises NextGen Sciences’ proficiency in introducing first-ever automated product lines, and continuing success in technology commercialisation. The company is a well-deserved recipient of this award.” Said Katherine Austin, Technical Insights Analyst from Frost & Sullivan.

Employing NextGen Sciences’ patent protected technology, the a2DEoptimizer was developed by the company to solve the challenges associated with traditional 2D electrophoresis. The advanced system has been shown to improve 2D electrophoresis reproducibility and results, and is the first system to automate gel casting to user-defined gradients.

“We are delighted to have achieved this prestigious award, which recognises NextGen Sciences as a leader in the protein research field. The a2DEoptimizer was launched just four months ago, and we have already sold 14 systems to key customers. The interest the system has generated has exceeded our expectations, and this award reinforces our commitment to deliver leading technologies to improve protein research” Said Dr Kevin Auton, CEO NextGen Sciences.
