In 2006 PRS was acquired by NextGen Group and Dr. Pisano was appointed Chief Scientific Officer and President of NextGen Sciences Inc.

Grant Cameron, Ph.D

VP Business Development

Dr. Cameron joined NextGen Sciences in July 2002 and has a wealth of technical and commercial experience from working in a variety of companies within the life sciences industry. Prior to joining NextGen Sciences, Dr. Cameron was employed at Sense Proteomic Ltd where, as Business Development Manager, he was responsible for the launch of the first two functional protein arrays on the market and driving their commercial strategy. Previously, Dr. Cameron was the Global Product Manager for a wide range of proteomics technologies at Genomic Solutions Ltd (UK) and was the Technical Support Manager for the Gilson automated separations technologies at Anachem Ltd (UK).

Ian Kelly

VP Technology

Mr Kelly joined the company in January 2001 and has been responsible for the development of software and automation for a variety of different products including the ProteinArray Workstation, a2DEoptimizer and more recently the ExpressionFactory and ExpressionWorkstation protein expression platforms. He now heads the team implementing a Laboratory Information Management System and developing automated sample preparation capabilities for the company's biomarker testing division. Mr Kelly has extensive product development experience in a variety of different industries, including avionics, petrochemical and transportation. Prior to joining NextGen Sciences, Mr Kelly worked at Terrington Systems as Principal Engineer where he led a multi-disciplinary team developing an innovative high-performance aircraft data recorder and data-warehousing system for a variety of different customers including the UK Ministry of Defence, BAE SYSTEMS and NASA. Previously he worked at the engineering consultancy Oscar Faber as Senior Consultant, managing the design and development of transportation information and control systems.

Ruth VanBogelen, Ph.D

Director of Biomarkers and Proteomics

Dr. VanBogelen has over 30 years of proteomics experience. She joined the company in April 2008 after a 16 year tenure of increasing responsibility at Pfizer/Warner Lambert. At Pfizer, Dr. VanBogelen was Director of the Proteomics Center, working globally with scientists from all therapeutic areas and Pfizer sites to address the needs for proteomics (80% biomarker projects) using both internal resources and outsourcing. Dr. VanBogelen began exploring the use of peptide MRM technology to overcome the bottleneck in biomarker assay development (which included outsourcing and collaborations with 3 different companies). Dr. VanBogelen also worked to identify external collaborations for establishing knowledgebases (both machine-readable and human-readable) for computational deductive reasoning and to address issues with institutional memory (collaborations with 2 companies). Previous to Pfizer, she spent 14 years at the University of Michigan studying E. coli physiology using proteomics (over 40 publications).

Richard Jones, Ph.D

Head of Mass Spectrometry

Dr. Jones has extensive experience in protein mass spectrometry. After graduating from Professor Simon J. Gaskell's group at UMIST, he was a post-doctoral scientist at Aventis Pharmaceuticals and then moved on to become a Senior Scientist at Genomic Solutions and Proteomic Research Services. Dr Jones then worked at the FDA for 5 years as a principal investigator and has been at NextGen since March 2007. Dr. Jones has expertise utilizing many mass spectrometry platforms for high sensitivity protein and peptide analysis encompassing identification, characterization and quantitation. At NextGen he has established robust, sensitive platforms for biomarker discovery, assay development and monitoring using mass spectrometry.
