All optigels are available in either standard or low fluorescing glass to ensure compatibility with either traditional or fluorescent labeling techniques.

optigels are a new range of large format pre-cast second dimension gels, available in a choice of gradients and supports designed to suit all labeling and detection systems.
optigels have been optimised for users of the ETTAN DALT system (GE Healthcare) who require ultimate protein separation and gel to gel reproducibility.
optigels are manufactured using NextGen Sciences proprietary a2DEoptimizer automated gel casting system, producing excellent gel to gel and batch to batch reproducibility. Ensuring electrophoresis results are as consistent as possible by removing any variation introduced by manual gel casting.
The gels are Tris-HCl pH8.8, cast without SDS for both native and de-naturing applications. There is a choice of pre defined gradients, customised gradients can be manufactured at no extra cost, please contact for further details.
optigel and optigel LF 10-20% gradient gels
All gradients include a 5% ‘stacking’ gel to enable better transfer of proteins into the second dimension from the IPG strip or tube gel.
optigel and optigel LF 8%-16% gradient gels
The 8 – 16% gradient includes a ‘hook’ which increases the protein feature resolution, the limit of detection and the possibility of positive identification from mass spectrometry of the low molecular weight proteins.
